From Loneliness to Service: A Life for God’s Glory
Adita came to GYC Peru- AMOR Proyects through a friend named Shannon, who invited her to join the Book Club meetings. Little by little, she began to get involved in the ministry’s activities, and from the very beginning, we could see her spirit of humility and service.
As we got to know her story, we discovered that Adita grew up without her parents and without knowing what a real home was. This left deep marks on her life, bringing struggles with low self-esteem, unfounded fears, difficulty recognizing her gifts and talents, and limitations in her personal growth.
But God had a plan. He placed in our hearts the conviction that Adita would become very useful in His work. We began to see her not for who she was at that moment, but for who she could become in God’s hands. We invited her to join Restauradamente, a space designed to restore identity and self-worth in Christ.
Over time, Adita, together with other young women like Sarita and Jesebel, stepped up to lead the Restauradamente Book Club, working through the book “Speak Truth to Yourself.” This experience helped Adita start seeing herself as God sees her and overcome many of her fears. It was a beautiful process to witness how God was transforming her life and beginning to use her to serve others.
Later, when we launched the project Restoring the Tent of Meeting, which focused on strengthening our relationship with God, we invited Adita to become a prayer leader. It was incredible to see how God used her! During that season, Adita led a group that prayed at 4:00 a.m., showing perseverance and inspiring others to seek God more deeply and intentionally.
After that project ended, I felt God prompting me to delegate the leadership of the Prayer Club to Adita. At the time, I didn’t know I would soon be leaving Lima and would need to hand over the leadership of both the prayer and reading clubs. But God knew all along. He always provides before we even ask, fulfilling what Isaiah 65:24 says:
“Before they call I will answer; while they are still speaking I will hear.”
Today, Adita leads the GYC Peru Prayer Club. Every morning from 5:00 to 6:00 a.m., she opens the virtual room so that young people from across the country can join in prayer for their needs and for the ministry’s projects. She also organizes a special Saturday program featuring testimonies of answered prayers, worship, and reflections that strengthen the spiritual lives of young people. I have seen Adita’s commitment and perseverance, and I am convinced that God is equipping her for even greater things. In our last conversation in Lima, Adita shared her dream: to become a missionary in Uñigan, where the GYC center will be built—a project she and other young people have been praying for. She also told me she wants to use her degree in International Business to create an enterprise that advances God’s work. Hearing this, I am certain that God has amazing plans for her life!
Thank you to GYC Peru, AMOR Projects USA, and you, dear donor, for helping young people find their purpose and join God’s mission.
Let’s keep praying for God to guide Adita’s steps and fulfill His purpose in her life.
