We are excited to welcome seven new long-term Student Missionaries to AMOR Projects in Pucallpa, Peru! They have come with a desire to serve, to learn, and most importantly, to share God’s love with the people of this community.
At AMOR Projects, ministry is about caring for the whole person—physical, emotional, social, and spiritual. Throughout their time in Pucallpa, our Student Missionaries will serve in the free medical clinic, visit families in their homes, teach, participate in children’s programs, guide teenagers in making good decisions, and lead home Bible studies.
Each activity provides an opportunity to do more than simply meet a need. It is an opportunity to build trust, form friendships, listen to people’s stories, encourage families, and share the hope and love found in Jesus.
We are grateful for these seven young people who have answered the call to serve. We look forward to seeing how God will work through their hands, their words, and their relationships as they become part of the AMOR Projects family and the community of Pucallpa.
Isabel Rodriguez
Hey! I’m Isabel Rodriguez, a recent graduate of Walla Walla University with a degree in Spanish and Pre-Physical Therapy. There was a time I didn’t think I would get to be here in Peru, but God’s hand is AT WORK. I chose AMOR Projects because I wanted to learn how to serve in new ways, experience a new culture and group of people, learn Spanish better, and use practical skills in the medical field. In just the few days I’ve been here so far, I see God working in ways I couldn’t have imagined! I have been overwhelmed by the love and generosity every person has extended to me, and I am thrilled to have the opportunity to share Jesus with those around me. Above all else, my desire is to deepen my relationship with God through service, and I am so excited to see what these next nine months bring!
Jasmine Zavala
Hi, I’m Jasmine Zavala, and I’m a senior psychology major on a pre-medical track at Southern Adventist University. I am so excited to be here at AMOR Projects (AMOR Proyecto y Misión) serving this beautiful community! I have felt God calling me to missions since starting college at SAU. I believe that my purpose here on earth is to serve God and His people through medical and spiritual care. I am grateful to play a part in sharing the gospel and how Jesus has changed my life for the better. I came to AMOR Proyecto specifically because I wanted to learn Spanish and medical skills, as well as Bible work, and God opened the doors for this and much more. I thank God for the incredible opportunity to be here every day!.
Tyler Holm
Hey, I’m Tyler, a Theology major from Southern Adventist University! God led me to AMOR Projects (Amor Proyecto) in an incredible way, so I am excited to see the many wonderful ways that God works through me here. I am super passionate about helping others to experience the magnificent love of Jesus in a personal and real way, so having the opportunity to spend an entire year doing that is a dream come true. Here at Amor Proyecto, I am primarily working as a Bible worker, which includes giving spiritual care in the clinic, leading Bible studies and home visits, and other activities that pop up. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family and friends, reading, singing, and spending time outdoors in many different ways. Some of those include birding, hiking, soccer, and disc golf. Lauren Payne
Hi! Over the last several years I’ve had the desire to serve as a missionary. Now that I’ve finished my first year at Walla Walla University as a nursing major, God has opened the doors for me to be here at AMOR projects! I chose this mission because of my desire to serve people through medical care, my love for new experiences and cultures, and to learn Spanish! What I love about AMOR Projects is that it doesn’t just serve physical needs, we also get to minister to people’s spiritual health and deeply connect with the community here. I have been blessed with so much and to be able to give back is so so rewarding. I’ve already been filled with so much joy by the people I’ve met and worked with, and I’m excited to see what projects we will accomplish this year at AMOR Projects.

I’m happy to be serving at AMOR Projects this year! The community here is so warm and welcoming. You can truly see the way your efforts through Jesus power make a difference in people’s lives. From how people’s lives are changed through Bible studies and spiritual care at home, to medical clinic. Helping people control their chronic conditions or feel better is extremely rewarding. Learning to communicate with community members and create meaningful relationships can be challenging but also one of the best parts. It has been such a blessing in my life and for my walk with Jesus to be here and to try to minister as he did; teaching, preaching and healing.
